Avaya Lights up Business Collaboration with Flare™

Monday 4th October 2010

Described as an industry first, Avaya has launched Flare™; an innovative unified communication software package delivering video, voice and web collaboration capabilities with a distinctive user experience.

Ian Darby, Agile’s Visual Communications Manager, believes Flare™ will break down barriers to adoption by simplifying the user experience. In turn, this will allow businesses to streamline processes, make faster decisions and compete more effectively.

The intuitive Avaya Flare™ Experience will be initially sold on an Avaya touch screen tablet but will be adapted over time to fit other devices such as smartphones, laptops and PCs. The 11.6 inch tablet, which runs on an Android operating system, includes video and audio capabilities supported by a high definition camera and dual microphones. The device will enable campus-wide mobility via SIP and WiFi. USB connectivity for an optional keyboard, 3G/4G access or a thumb drive is also supported. Upcoming versions will support remote access over VPN connections and 4G access.

Because Flare™ is based on Android, applications can be written to it quickly or acquired from the Android Market. Separately, customers can also use Avaya's ACE application development toolkit to customize communications apps on the Avaya UC platform that runs on the device.
