Cisco Delivers on Commitment to Advance Telepresence Interoperability Across Its Portfolio and with Third-Party Systems
New Products and Upgrades Extend Reach of Cisco TelePresence to Provide Access for Everyone, Powering the New Way of Working
LAS VEGAS and SAN JOSE, Calif., June 8, 2010 – At the InfoComm conference in Las Vegas today, Cisco announced it is fulfilling commitments to deliver immersive, multiscreen interoperability between Cisco and Tandberg TelePresence systems, and with other third-party systems, by integrating the Telepresence Interoperability Protocol (TIP) on Cisco's newly acquired Tandberg TelePresence Server. This interoperability solution, which will be commercially available in late July, helps enable multi-screen, high-definition video collaboration between all major telepresence vendors. The announcement comes just weeks after the close of Cisco's Tandberg acquisition.
"Companies of all sizes are turning to telepresence – the next generation of videoconferencing – for its proven ability to speed decisions, increase productivity and drive competitive advantage by putting people at the center of collaboration," said Fredrik Halvorsen, senior vice president and general manager, TelePresence technology group, Cisco. "With the new and enhanced offerings announced today, we are delivering greater accessibility, flexibility and scalability to our customers and making telepresence for everyone, everywhere a reality"
Cisco also introduced a host of other offerings in an effort to deliver the most comprehensive set of collaboration choices for customers.
